So Long, 2019

December 18, 2019 Written by Jack Frysinger

Our last regularly scheduled meeting of 2019 was last week on December 11. Club members are invited to attend our annual holiday party tonight at the City Center 1 Caffè Macs.

Please join us again in 2020, with meetings starting up again on January 8. For members looking to take on a leadership role in the new year, note that two positions are open: Secretary and VP of Education. Please contact the officers if you are interested in serving the club via one of these roles.

Marcin, our club president, served as Toastmaster during last week’s meeting. We heard four of our members deliver prepared speeches. Steven spoke to us about sourcing and recruiting candidates for a role, and Deima explained the concept of impact investing. Keong rehearsed a speech about an Enterprise Leadership Conference that he plans to deliver to a group of high school students. Sharon won the prize of Best Speaker with a speech called “The Power of a Paradigm Shift.”

Kory led a round of Table Topics, inviting members to tell stories about the holidays. We heard about last minute gift ideas and dream travel destinations, and Peter won the prize for his most important discovery of 2019: a hidden meaning in his last name.

We heard four evaluation speeches – one for each prepared speech. Dominic won the ribbon for his take on Keong’s pitch.

We at Macintalkers wish everyone a nice holiday season and hope to see you in the new year!
